TeacherMate Handheld Computer

The TeacherMate handheld computer is a compact mobile learning tool that has been designed specifically for early elementary students. Students are instantly attracted to its resemblance to a handheld game, and they quickly learn to use the few buttons necessary to control the interface. The handheld is rugged enough to withstand the treatment of a 5-year-old, yet light and safe, with rounded edges and extra protection over the screen.

Inside TeacherMate is a powerful 200MHz 32bit ARM9 computer processor with 500MB NAND Flash RAM and a 16 bit LCD display. There is an SD card slot for future expandability. The TeacherMate has a built-in speaker and a jack for a headphone as well as a built-in microphone for the student’s voice recording. The TeacherMate can be charged by either an AC/DC adapter or by a USB connection to a personal computer; alternatively, multiple TeacherMates can be charged and synched in the Synch and Store Case described below. The battery life of the TeacherMate is 3.5 hours between charges.

The TeacherMate has no moving parts. Instead of a hard drive, the TeacherMate uses only flash memory. It boots in under 10 seconds and shuts down in less than 5 seconds.

In short, the TeacherMate is just the right size, heft, and design and has the durability, functionality, and accessibility to make it the perfect computing platform for a young student.
