Reading and Math Programs

“Our Curriculum is Your Curriculum.”

With the TeacherMate handheld computer system, the teacher is not required to modify the curriculum used in the classroom. Instead, all of the TeacherMate activities have been painstakingly aligned to all of the leading reading and math programs used in early elementary classrooms. At the beginning of the year, the teacher identifies in the Classroom Management Program which math and reading programs are used in the classroom. Then, once each week, the teacher spends a few seconds identifying in the Classroom Management Program which unit of the math and reading programs the class is learning during that week; in addition, the teacher can identify different units for different reading and math groups or even individual students who are advanced or in remediation.

“Max” is the host of all the reading and math games.

The TeacherMate handheld computer system does the rest. It knows what the students are learning in the classroom, and all of the activities are geared to precisely complement what is being taught there. For example, if the class (or one or a group of students) is learning how to tell time to the half hour in math, the TeacherMate will present activities to support learning how to tell time to the half hour.

The Reading Program covers all of the components of a beginning reading instruction, including activities for phonics, fluency, comprehension, and writing. The TeacherMate can save the student’s written work as well as the student’s voice recordings for later review by the teacher. The teacher can vary the activities used by different students in order to give each student individualized support in the areas the student needs most.

The Reading Program contains a library of leveled readers that are engaging and age appropriate. The teacher chooses the level that is right for each student. Students can choose any book within the assigned level and can create multimedia story responses for each book that they read.

The Math Program contains activities for all of the early elementary math activities, including length measurement, temperature measurement, scale measurement, fractions, geometric shapes, and coins. The Math Program also contains various engaging games that build math facts knowledge. The teacher can determine how much time each student spends learning math facts and how much time is spent in support of math concepts.

Spanish Support
All stories, instructions, and other content in the TeacherMate handheld computer system are in both English and Spanish. The teacher can determine how much Spanish support to provide for each student. For example, certain students might first have a story read to them in Spanish and then in English. Other students may only receive the instructions in Spanish. TeacherMate is the perfect tool for a dual immersion program since it can teach students to read in English and Spanish using the same leveled readers and the same sequenced readers.
