Giving thanks to our tutors

Posted

We love this video produced by our partners in Phoenix, Valley of the Sun United Way, featuring TutorMate volunteer Yolanda Stokes from Wells Fargo and her student, Jaffet.

As we gear up for the Thanksgiving holiday, we at Innovations for Learning simply want to say thank you to our volunteers like Yolanda who devote time each week to helping children learn to read.  Reading at grade level is so critical to students’ success, and by spending 30 minutes each week playing literacy games and reading stories with kids like Jaffet, our volunteers are making a meaningful difference in their lives.

So, in the spirit of the season, we’d like to give thanks to our incredible volunteers for spending time tutoring early readers in their communities, enabling the success of those students in school and beyond. Thank you, too, to our partners at Valley of the Sun United Way for supporting our program in the Phoenix area so that more students get the one-on-one reading help they need!

At IFL, we’re kicking off the holiday season next week by celebrating #GivingTuesday, a movement dedicated to generosity and giving back.  We’ll be asking our volunteers and friends to consider making a donation to help us close the achievement gap together through programs like TutorMate.  We hope that you and your loved ones have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, and that you’ll consider making a gift next week to support our work!
