It all starts with Literacy.

Broward College TutorMate Team Receives “Unsung Heroes” Award

Innovations for Learning has a deep appreciation for our volunteers’ work as TutorMate tutors, and we’re always excited to hear that organizations are honoring their employee volunteers as well!

At Broward College, President J. David Armstrong’s leadership team recognizes extraordinary individuals in the Broward College community each month with the “Unsung Heroes” award. This month, they recognized the work of Broward College’s TutorMate team for volunteering to remotely tutor Rock Island Elementary School students, helping those students build early literacy skills.

As we wrap up the 2014-15 school year and begin preparations for tutoring again in the fall, we’re grateful for faithful partners like Broward College – entering their third year of tutoring through Innovations for Learning’s programs – that are so committed to the cause of closing the achievement gap by helping children in our communities learn to read.
